Spring is almost here and with the turnover of a new season comes the turnover of fashion trends.

The spring season brings us transitional pieces from cold to warm and warm to hot. Spring/Summer 2025 runways gave us a little peek into what might be popular in the fashion world for the upcoming warmer months.

The coastal trend from spring and summer's past can be found once again. There were lots of sailor stripes, cotton dresses and thin jackets present on the runway. The New York Times’ report on New York Fashion Week called this trend “The Summertime Prep,” which is probably one of the easiest spring trends to participate in because it contains pieces already in your closet. Any stripes, cottons or linens fit in perfectly! If you want to be adventurous, Tory Burch debuted an easy-to-replicate outfit: a one piece swimsuit, track pants and ballet flats.

Pastels had a big presence on the runway this year. Baby blues, soft yellows, delicate pinks and dainty greens were trends across many designers’ work. This recurring spring and summer trend probably means you can easily find this in your closet too! Recycle pastel pieces from seasons past and put them together to create the ultimate pastel look.

Plaids, ginghams and checkers, oh my! We usually think of plaid patterns as a fall and winter staple, but it heavily graced the runway for the spring. Tops, jackets, skirts, pants and bags are all fair game for the plaid and gingham trend. Pairing plaid on plaid was a common combination for this trend on the runway.

Elevated sportswear is a fun trend to participate in if you love the comfort and look of traditional sportswear but want to make it a little more geared toward daily wear. Structured business pants with track jackets, matching sweat suits with a fancy shoe and zippered blouses are all examples of the elevated sportswear trend on the runway this season.

Structured business is back and ready for the warm weather. Lots of oversized belted blazers over whimsy skirts, giving a fun movement contrast. Head to your local thrift or vintage store to find a plain structured blazer and then find quirky pants or skirts to pair along with it. Or do a vis-versa and find baggy structured work pants and a fun tight fitting top to pair together.

Grab inspiration for spring from these runway trends, or flip through some magazines, watch old movies or head to your local vintage store to grab warm weather inspiration there!
